1967 Gibson ES-335
Rare Color - Sparling Burgundy Metallic
VGG prices these at 7500-10000 in this color. This is priced well, since it has wear and minor alteration. Very cool rare finish - 7.0 condition; one owner guitar; w/ nice Lifton HSC (original, per guitar’s one owner) in VG+ condition that seems a tad too big); finish on this guitar is really unique, it has a beautiful gold ’tone’ throughout from a metallic undercoat, esp. noticable where there is some wear, like back of neck and arm rest area; original patent sticker pickups, pulled one cover, and these are not ’T’ tops, they are 1965 or earlier ’patent sticker’ pickups; original CTS pots (dated to 1967), and wiring with Sprague cap, no splices; tuners were Schaller tuners, no extra holes, original Kluson Deluxes re-installed; correct EX ’witch-hat’ knobs, nut; pickguard has been re-installed in slightly different place, believe it is original; factory 2-hole Bigsby replaced w/ stop tailpiece conversion in late 60’s (so there are two filled holes on top and 4 holes on butt-end); a repair at jack to reinforce; correct patent# ABR-1 w/ metal saddles; union orange label is marked ’ES335 TD’, w/ legible serial#; slim (1 9/16) neck (also a '67 feature, '68 saw a wider neck return); guitar has average finish checking, some chipping on headstock tip, and back of neck has wear down to gold first coat, but no bad scratches and back is quite clean; Binding is great color and all complete. Has original frets, leveled for great action; slight playwear to the fingerboard wood; plays with very low action; nice light weight $7800-9500 book in EX
