1939 Epiphone Zephyr
1st Year of Issue - Natural
OHSC 1st year of issue; 1 owner guitar, believe it or not (I bought it from the heir of an elderly lady)! Flame maple laminates. VG condition overall, no wear spots on back of neck and finish is clean! This is guitar that Les Paul played before his ’52 Les Paul, and he used it to record many of his hits. Very nice 3-piece cherry/maple neck w/ block inlays and early oblong PU (had a replacement PU, but included the original, which I had rewound by Lindy Fralin); lower bout is earlier 16 3/8’ wide; FAT maple back, sides and top; has newer exact replacement Grover open-back tuners and a replacement PG that is black, but w/ original hardware; cool original knobs (on MasterVoicer plates), tailpiece, PU cover and bridge; has the original back panel, allowing access to inside; 3-ply binding, has some missing on neck and has shrunk a bit overall; bound RW fingerboard has very nice frets, probably refretted. OHSC has ’Lifton’ tag inside, and is a little too large, but exactly like others I’ve seen; it is in nice condition with a few patches and repairs. The inside top brace is original, I believe.
