1996 Epiphone Emperor Regent NA
- Natural
Beautiful natural finish that has some nice burl on the back, and a lacquer finish that almost has 25 years of aging (albeit in its case, mostly); LIKE NEW, near-mint condition with a little oxidation on the gold-plated parts, which actually makes it look better IMO, so I left it-- just from the humidification I've always kept it in. This model has a spruce top, maple back/sides, a maple "C" profile neck with 1.68": nut, rosewood fingerboard, and 1 floating "Johnny Smith D'Armand-type" mini-humbucker pickup (with controls on the pickguard), nice "block-and-triangle" pearloid and abalone inlays, the classic Frequensator tailpiece, the classic "tree-of-life" headstock inlay, Grover 16:1 tuners, a bound "tortoise-shell" pickguard, a floating rosewood bridge. It is 100% original as from the Peerless factory (it was made in Korea in 1996). This is a nice 17" jazz box, set up with heavy-gauge flats, that glide like butter SUPERB VALUE and good mojo for the money, especially with the natural finish and toner aging. The fact that it has not had any issues with neck, etc. bodes well, I'd highly suggest you find a clean older one like this than take your chances on a new build. It also has a nice weight-- not too heavy at under 6.5 lbs. If you are on a limited budget, and cannot afford one of my Gibsons, this is a great jazz guitar for the money. The case is also in EX+ condition and is an Epi case.
