I Dare you to Find a Cleaner One! - Candy Apple Red
1 owner, WOW!!! - ’Candy Apple Red’ (rare, Custom color), nitrocellulose (until ’68), w/ maple neck (stamped 5MAY65C); white 3-ply original PG with metal under-plate (PG shield), but plastic has slightly shrunk as expected); 100% all original: correct bridge, jack, chrome covers, thumbrest, string tree, nut, knobs, strap knobs, reverse tuners; pickups are also correct and unmolested wiring; 2 stackpole pots (304) are original (one has visible pot code dating it to week 20 1965); the neck is IMMACULATE! It has thin Brazilian board, original frets, nice pearl dots, and very little wear, and hardly any dings or wear on back, which has an amazing patina from age. Headstock decal is correct and perfect. The Candy Apple finish has the correct silver under-coat. There is no belt buckle wear, light checking (not much) and a few dings (very very clean for a ’65, I’d call it an ’8.5’ overall. You will not find many as clean). The OHSC is also very nice, it has black tape around handle, but all latches are good and it is clean. Nice light weight, too. I recently gigged this bass, and it plays like butter w/ black tape flats on it for ’the sound’. But, it has spent most of the time in its case, unplayed. I have seen much-less clean ones listed for $12K.
